Rompetrol Georgia has once again joined the campaign to support children with disabilities. The purpose of collaboration with the organization Breath Georgia is, first of all, to support disabled children left without care and to raise public awareness of their needs. Within the scope of the campaign, Rompetrol allocated funding of 1,000-liters of a fuel voucher for one year to ensure the continues reception of rehabilitation/habilitation services for children.
In Georgia, especially in the regions, there is a lack of services for children with disabilities. Many children do not have access to social support and services. For these children, the rehabilitation/habilitation program is one of the means of proper development, improvement of health status, and inclusion in age-related activities. In particular, the selected program and expert-led processes help children develop motor skills, understand the need for academic study, and improve speech and physical rehabilitation.
Breath Georgia has been taking care of children with severe and profound disabilities in small and family-type homes since 2010. Since 2021, they have also taken under their care the former beneficiaries of the Kojori Orphanage House for Disabled Children. The organization manages four small family-type houses. 23 children with disabilities live in those three houses and are taken care of by the organization and the state. Small-type family homes are adapted to the needs of beneficiaries to the greatest possible extent; however, in order to receive full-fledged services, it is necessary to ensure the transportation of children to a rehabilitation center. Children's care at the center is carried out in accordance with international standards for children's care and is an expensive service since most of the beneficiaries have severe genetic or other chronic comorbidities. The rehabilitation/habilitation service is funded by the state; however, transportation service is not included, and the cost of children's transportation are covered by the caregiver.
Rompetrol Georgia has been actively engaged in the program of assistance for children with disabilities for many years and will regularly inform you of the needs of the beneficiaries and the importance of rehabilitation for them through the Facebook page.
